  • Address, room number and move-in date
  • Contract holder name, phone number and email
  • Electricity customer number, supply point ID or meter number
  • Candidate times for the gas opening visit
  • Water customer number if available, or the new address
  • Building-compatible internet type: fiber, home router or pocket Wi-Fi

1. Kuryente: mag-apply bago lumipat, saka ikumpara ang plans

The Agency for Natural Resources and Energy says electricity switching usually requires details such as the customer number and supply point ID. Its guide gives standard examples of about 2 weeks when smart-meter replacement is needed and about 4 days when it is not. Your real start date still depends on the provider and building, so apply as soon as your move-in date is fixed.

2. Gas: mag-book ng opening appointment

Gas needs more scheduling than electricity. Tokyo Gas states in its foreigner-facing procedure page that attendance is required when starting gas service. A proxy may be possible, but the technician checks ignition and safety inside the home, so reserve a time that does not conflict with work or school.

3. Tubig: gamitin ang local water bureau

Water is handled by the local water bureau. Tokyo has an English page for starting and cancelling water service, but outside Tokyo you should check the city or local bureau website. Water is easy to forget, so put both the old-place cancellation and new-place start request in the same checklist.

4. Internet: i-check muna ang building limits

For internet, check the building before chasing the cheapest price. A room that supports fiber, a room better suited to a home router, and a room where pocket Wi-Fi is enough are different situations. GTN's official page describes mobile and internet services for foreign residents with multilingual support, but you should confirm building compatibility, installation work, contract period and cancellation terms before applying.

Check internet

Contract traps na iiwasan

  • Do not show meter slips or bills immediately to an unexpected salesperson.
  • If someone says every resident in the building must switch, verify it with the management company or lease documents.
  • When a plan is advertised as cheaper, check base fees, adjustment charges, contract period and cancellation terms.
  • If you already signed something worrying, contact the 188 consumer hotline or a local consumer center.
